Instructions & Information for the Windward Rock Band Program
Who can participate?
Students who already know how to play an instrument or can sing and are in the 7th through 12th grades can participate.
There are LIMITED spaces for each instrument for the class, and depending on how many students submit a placement video for each instrument, we may not have space for all the students who submit a video. Students who submit their placement video by the deadline will be considered first, but that does not guarantee placement in a class.

Who needs to submit a placement video?
ALL students who want to participate in the Windward Rock Band Program must submit a placement video.
What do I need to include in my video?

Singers need to only do the "For All Students" #1 & 3 if they only want to be a vocalist in the group.
Instrumentalists need to do the "For All Students" and the instructions for the instrument they want to play in a group. You CAN try out on more than one instrument, but the teacher will designate what your primary instrument in the group will be.
When do classes meet?
CLICK HERE to see the full schedule for the Rock Band Program. You will be assigned to one of the classes, so please make sure you can make it to either time slot.
What is the deadline for the placement video?
Videos must be submitted by 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
We have EXTENDED THE DEADLINE and will accept placement videos through December 31, 2025.
What happens after I submit my placement video?
Mr. Lui, the Rock Band teacher, will review the videos and make placements. Sometime after the deadline for placement videos, we will send an email to the PRIMARY PARENT'S EMAIL listed below with information on if you were placed into a group or not.
If you are placed into a group, the email will state what instrument you were accepted on and have a link to register and pay for the class. Registration will be due by January 4, 2026.
